A significant portion of Catmandu is dedicated to our sanctuary cats, many of whom will reside here for several years or for the entirety of their lives. The majority of these cats are either senior (aged 8 and above), have health issues, are shy around unfamiliar people, or have special requirements for their permanent homes. While many of our sanctuary residents are wonderful cats that could become excellent companions and house pets, they require additional time and patient effort to build trust and adapt to a new environment. As a result, they are rarely adopted. Nevertheless, we provide them with the same level of love and care, regardless of their friendliness or sociability.

Our sanctuary is entirely cage-free. The cats enjoy a spacious indoor area encompassing three large rooms, a vast covered catio, a barn, and a fenced backyard. The sanctuary is equipped with cat trees, sleeping drawers, wall-mounted drawers, shelves, beds, a climbing tree, and a climbing wall. They have their own little community and appear to be quite content with their friends and routine.
