Yes, it’s possible that Catmandu operates a waitlist for cat surrenders due to their commitment to providing a free-roaming, cage-free environment and ensuring that the cats they accept are a good fit with the existing group.

Is There a Waitlist to Surrender My Cat?

Capacity Limits

Since  Catmandu is free-roaming, there is limited space to ensure each cat has a stress-free, comfortable environment. When the sanctuary reaches capacity, new surrenders may need to wait until space becomes available.

Behavioral Assessment

Catmandu prioritizes the well-being of their resident cats, so new cats might be placed on a waitlist until they can thoroughly assess the cat's compatibility with other cats.

Medical Needs and Special Cases

Cats with specific health concerns or requiring extra care may need to wait until resources are available to accommodate their needs.

Urgency and Priority

Cats in more urgent situations (e.g., medical emergencies or unsafe living conditions) may be given priority, while less urgent cases might be placed on a waitlist.

How Long is the Wait?

Current Capacity

If Catmandu is at full capacity, the wait time could be longer as they may need to wait for cats to be adopted or moved before accepting new ones.

Cat's Needs and Compatibility

Cats with complex health or behavioral issues may experience longer waits if Catmandu needs to assess how well they will integrate into their free-roaming, cage-free environment.

Urgency and Prioritization

If there is a more urgent case, such as a cat facing immediate danger or severe medical needs, it might be prioritized. Non-urgent surrenders could have a longer wait.

Am I able to get updates?

Waitlist Status
If your cat is placed on a waitlist, you can request periodic updates on where you stand and how long the wait is expected to be.

Surrender Process Updates
Once your cat has been accepted, Catmandu may provide updates about the surrender process, including timelines for the cat's placement in their sanctuary or rehoming efforts.

Post-Surrender Follow-Up
If you’ve indicated in the surrender form that you’d like to be informed about the cat's status after surrender, they may keep you updated on how your cat is adjusting or any major milestones like adoption.
